Intelligent freight technologies worry about 3 major components when using technology

The biggest factor is consistent profit for leaders in the market and developers of new technology. Strategies come into play focusing on a great sustainable efficiency by reducing costs, enhancement to the bottom line in revenues, and lowering inherent risks associated with the integrity of the contracts and their cargo. To keep an advantage over competitors, shipping and transportation services use a combination, if not all of these major factors. The marketplace dictates what technology can be integrated at a fair price when producing these services to clients.
Freight technology companies need to look beyond the direct costs and evaluate long term goals implemented by the addition of the technology itself. International trade often relies on freight technologies so they must be sure not to hinder business in any way.
A new integration that is the most cost effective is the use of satellite based tracking for management of its fleets and cargo.
Compliance is also an issue that customers dictate as well as suggested guidelines by governing companies. The profit can be dictated by what new technology the public is conceiving as the new trend, so demand will be met for public morale in regards to the branding of the lines in a highly competitive marketplace.
Customer demand of the latest innovations has a string influence on how the shipping and transportation companies dictate what technology would be best for the profit margin. It is not easy to weigh this against regulations imposed by the government as each seems to force the shipping company to comply.
An initiative that fleet operators find most pressing is the The Electronic Freight Manifest (EFM) by the DOT, Department of Transportation. It is a new design for testing changes in urgency, stable reports, and correlation of freight exchanges between partners in the industry.
It is an evaluation process of the beneficial aspects according to the industry standards and its applications towards government involvement. EFM testing starts with a basic standardization of electronically shared between business shareholder and partners. The EFM further acts as a monitor of Internet business trafficking through the supply chain. The EFM relates to a hierarchy of all users in the scheme of suppliers and consumers.
Many barriers are hurdles for the shipping companies to get over when it comes to implementation of new technologies. Acceptance is countered by operating practices and direct costs involved. Some big box stores have made it crucial to now place tracking tags so satellites can tracks customer’s packages. This is no way improves service, in many cases it delays by the extra manpower it takes to track and record these packages by keeping up to date log book and accounts. But when customers want a service, they opt for the more technology based shipments so the profit outweighs the extra cost of implementation, even if perhaps, the service was marginally delayed.
