Every year, there is speculation as to who will dominate the technology market. Many names have been discussed and thrown about but there is a clear frontrunner taking the world of gaming by storm. Android is expected, and already has begun, to make 2013 the year of their games. GameStick is one of the smallest mobile gaming consoles that will enter into the market. The system is housed on a small device that is about the size of a USB cord. This “stick†can be placed directly into a port on the television where it will instantaneously turn it into a game ready system. Controllers are included with the stick that are small enough for easy travel but are large enough to be held and controlled with ease by the user.
The size is not the only great aspect about this product. It is also the thought that has gone into the crafting of this product. Game developers made the device small enough to hook on a keychain but with a finder in case it is loss. The device can be found through a beeping mechanism which adds the advantage of making it a key finder as well.
While the key finding aspect is not what gamers will love, it shows the thought and decision process that developers put into the device and highlights the quality that consumers are falling in love with. The GameStick is not yet released but is another KickStarter funded project that investors from all over the world can become acquainted. Ouya is a different type of gaming console that will run on the Android system. This is a free-standing box in a small and easily portable shape that can make the larger box systems appear monstrous. Designed in white, this Kickstarter funded project is expected to reach the mass market in February or early in the year. This device is not about transforming existing devices into gaming systems but about enhancing gaming on a current television. Some consumers have already received prototypes and early versions of this technology and are expounding upon its use and accessibility to the Android games they love.

The goal of this mysterious technology is take the Android operating system that you are already utilizing and transferring it into larger platform gaming. Developers are working to connect a universal controller that will utilize the Android technologies already on your phone or tablet and use that as the portal through which gaming can be accessed. In essence, Green Throttle gaming systems would turn your mobile device already in hand into your Android gaming console and that is a highly appealing prospect.
