Toshiba unveiled two glassless 3D TVs Regza 20GL1 and 12GL1

Toshiba unveiled two 3D TVs Regza 20GL1 and 12GL1 that work without special glasses. Toshiba’s 20GL1 and 12GL1 are scheduled to be released in Japan. Toshiba said that its 3D technology is currently best-suited for small displays. The 3D effect is available within a 40-degree area in front of the set.

The Regza 20GL1 is a 20-inch flat-panel display with 1,280×720 resolution.

The Regza 12GL1 is a 12-inch flat-panel display with 466×350 resolution.

Toshiba said viewers must sit two feet from the 12-inch LCD and three feet from the 20-inch LCD to view 3D content. This new LCDs are the first step into the 3D future in the consumer home cinema.

The possibility of viewing 3D content sans glasses is something that many consumers will welcome as most of the people don’t like to wear special glasses to view 3D content.

Nokia’s new Plug to Touch technology

Nokia – World’s largest mobile phone maker unveiled the new technology Plug to Touch. This new technology can turn any HDMI-connected external display into a touchscreen.

Using a N8 Mobile phones 12 Mp Camera, the phone is mounted atleast 5 feet away from the screen and connected via HDMI. The phone’s camera tracks the hand gestures and the onboard app responds accordingly. Application that runs on Nokia N8 and it uses the 12-megapixel camera on the phone to detect users’ finger movements over the HDMI-connected display.

The application can let users pick selections and process the requests. This Technology can be made much more sophisticated in the future with the help of Wi-Fi streaming over DLNA

LePhone Mobiles has announced the launch of its latest Triple SIM handset in the country. Its latest handset is the A10 which boasts of three SIM card slots (2GSM + 1CDMA).

The LePhone A10 is claimed to run Symbian OS and is actually a pretty decent smartphone. It has 3MP camera with flash light at the rear. The battery of the phone is rated at 850mAh and is capable of providing 300 minutes of talk time and 150 hours of standby time.

The LePhone A10 has a 2.2-inch display and features like an FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPRS support and USB support.

Annapurna- India’s seventh fastest supercomputer

Annapurna- India’s seventh fastest supercomputer was unveiled at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) in Chennai.

Atomic Energy Commission chairman Srikumar Banerjee unveiled the country’s seventh fastest high-performance computation cluster having 1.5 Tera Byte (TB) memory and 30 TB storage space cluster capacity.

Banerjee lauded the technical team behind the effort for creating the super computer Annapurna in a completely non-commercial domain.

Complex issues ranging from biological applications and others can be approached by using this supercomputer. This device will be used in simulations and numerical calculations in the areas of statistical mechanics and condensed matter physics.

The Annapurna cluster is the third fastest, which ranks below the IISc Bangalore and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.

Motorola to launch Milestone XT720 phone in India

Mobile maker Motorola to launch its Milestone XT720 phone in India. Motorola already has a Milestone on sale in India which is known as the Motorola Droid.

 

 

 

  • Now another Milestone is here – the XT720 Phone. This phone does have similar hardware to the existing Milestone including a 3.7-inch screen, 8 mega pixel camera, 720p HD video recording.

Pros of 4G wireless technology Vs WiMAX

The 4G wireless technology gearing up for a widespread rollout by Verizon. As of March, there were more than 41 network operators launching trials or commercial launches of HSPA+ networks.

Reports are out that 132 networks have reported trials or plans to launch LTE commercially this year. Verizon has also hinted at LTE handsets by mid-2011. HTC interested in launch of the Evo 4G Android phone for Sprint. There are actually more trials of WiMAX networks 188 underway today. And that number is only expected to grow in 2011.

If this technology proves successful then we could see several WiMAX operators migrate to the LTE standard. It is also mentioned that with the 4G battle plays out, 3G networks should not be ignored.
